Celeste MallettCeleste Mallett, Director

Yoga: Beginners, Level 1, Level 2, Wall, Restorative,
Sadhana, Pranayama & Meditation.

Celeste has been studying and teaching yoga and its many aspects since the early 1980’s in South Africa, England, the U.S., and Canada. A certified Iyengar teacher, she also holds Classical Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga certificates from the International Sivananda Yoga Association, and from the Mount Madonna Center, Santa Cruz, California.

Celeste draws inspiration from numerous yoga masters, especially Baba Hari Dass. Witnessing the transformational effect of yoga on people’s lives has been a strong motivational force in Celeste’s own life.

Her gentle-natured approach, depth of knowledge, and experience promotes an environment that is encouraging, affirming, and empowering.

 

Cordula VogtCordula Vogt

Yoga: Prenatal/ Mom & Baby, Men's, Mixed Levels

Cordula has been teaching Yoga since she received her certification in 2002 with the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. Through her 16 years of personal practice she has been exploring the notion of inner peace. Cordula attempts to reflect this not only in her role as mother, but when guiding others through their asana practice.

 

Leslie DeAtheLeslie DeAthe

Nia

Leslie is a certified black belt Nia Instructor and certified Personal Trainer. She is currently working on a Kinesiology program at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC. Nia (“nee-uh”) blends Eastern and Western philosophies using movements and practices from the martial, dance, and healing arts to create a magical, musical, fun fitness practice.

Diana BellDiana Bell

Pilates

Diana's practice of Pilates in 1991 led her to becoming certified in Classical Pilates in 1997 in Toronto. By paying attention to correct muscle useage, Diana encourages her students to develop core-strength and postural awareness. She offers group mat classesand private tuition for injury rehabilitation on specialised equipment called the Pilates Reformer.

Belly Dance, Hatha Flow Yoga

Oriana has been studying Yoga since 1990 and Belly Dance since 1998. She has taught and performed in her native New Brunswick as well as in Victoria and Mexico. She believes the body is a temple and that it should move as beautifully as the goddesses of old. Angie divides her time between teaching French at a private elementary school and offering her services as a Master Herbalist.

Lee (Loknath) MasonLee (Loknath) Mason

Sunrise Stretch, Mixed Levels Yoga

Lee (Loknath) Mason is a student of Baba Hari Dass and the 8-limbed Ashtanga yoga system outlined by Patanjali.  He has been practicing for 5 years and completed his formal teacher training at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga in the summer of 2005.  Lee has studied in Salt Spring Island, Vancouver, California and India.

Shelby JohnstoneShelby Johnstone

Kids and Teens Yoga

Shelby Johnstone is certified in Hatha, Prenatal and Children’s yoga.  As a mother and an artist, she has personally witnessed the transforming effects of a regular yoga and meditation practice.  Shelby encourages participants in her class to relax into a moving meditation, focusing on the breath as a tool for identifying and releasing tension, creating stillness in the mind and helping to understand our hearts true desire.

Lyndsay Savage

Mixed Levels Yoga

Lyndsay Savage came to yoga in Grade 4, but has studied more formally for the past 12 years.  She is a 2006 SSCY graduate and has been teaching at GYS for one year.  A successful hairstylist and make-up artist, Lyndsay utilises her experience in the healing arts of Reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy and chakra balancing in her approach to her work.
